Faith Formation

Welcome! My name is Dr. Patty Mann, the Director of Faith Formation here at St. Mary’s. I was  fortunate to be able to study for my Ph.D. at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. What a center of Catholicism that is! There are five daily Masses from which to choose, daily confessions, daily adoration, and one is surrounded by clergy and professed religious. This to say nothing about the beautiful liturgies in the National Shrine on weekends. I felt so reaffirmed and supported in my faith and my studies.

Eventually, however, I had to leave this Catholic environment and needed to share the great things I had learned. This is what we are all called to do as Catholic Christians. We come to Mass every weekend in the company of our faith family. We hear the Word of God and are nourished by the Eucharist. Then we are sent forth to “become what we have received,” as St. Augustine says. We have to live it. We have to share it.

Here is where faith formation begins. From the young pre-school child through our oldest adult, we are called to learn about our faith so that we can be effective disciples of Christ and share his good news. Here at St. Mary’s we offer formation for everyone: classes for children, youth, and adults that are grounded in the Catechism of the Catholic Church and faithful to the magisterium.

We encourage you to read about what we offer on the faith formation menu and to join us on our journey with Christ and his Church!
